THE
ORBA VALLEY is the southernmost valley in Navarre.
In fact, there are two valleys in one: the plain, the site
of many battles and ambushes, and the hills, somewhat remote
and now uninhabited. A climate border housing the last Mediterranean
wood before the mountains, on the other side of Alaiz and
Izco. This is a land of cereals, vineyards and olive groves;
and big game hunting. For botanists and ornithologists,
it is a paradise where we can still find the remains of
holm oak woods, boxwoods and junipers. A relic of nature
with some particularly privileged areas: the El Carrascal
holm oak wood, and Monte de Olleta and Monte del Conde nature
reserves where we can hear the hooting of the owls and observe
the magnificent flight of birds of preys.
